Life’s Fairy Tale

Along came a prince
The prince came to woo
The fairest dame that he could find
To give all his love to

The ladies were ecstatic
They fluttered their eyelids too
They didn’t know their fate was to be
Decided by a shoe

Like all the maids awaiting,
I waited my turn too,
And as I tried on the shoe
There was hullabaloo

It broke into a thousand pieces
Surprise! Surprise! Cinderella abuses
For one who stayed long in ashes
Can’t claim to be without gashes.

Don’t Hail the flower that grows soil
Don’t Hail the lamp which glows on oil
The roots are still deep in dirt
The wick is still burnt on the hearth

Cinderless can cinderella exist?
Without soot can lamp persist?
Does the flower live without dirt?
In despair does hope take birth?

The are answers to these questions
Answer there is one
No matter how pristine you are
From dirt you have begun.
